Founded by Ron Luce, the Honor Academy hosts an intensive youth discipleship program with a Christian focus. Various internships, from short stays to yearlong residencies, take place at a sprawling campus in Garden Valley, Texas, enrolling over 500 young people per year. The Honor Academy aims to develop the spirituality, moral character, and leadership potential of America's youth.
The daily lives of Honor Academy participants are packed with exciting learning and outreach opportunities, support groups, and "Life-Transforming Events" (LTEs). LTEs utilize different creative strategies to encourage total spiritual development. The Gauntlet helps to orient newcomers and build a foundation for the year's study, while Global Expeditions take students on international missions to spread the Gospel. LTEs such as TrueNorth and PEARL (Physical, Emotional, and Relational Learning) encourage teamwork, while the Endurance event focuses on athletic ability by means of a 10-kilometer run. Many Honor Academy enrollees come away from LTEs with valuable life lessons and report greater spiritual, mental, physical, and emotional capabilities.
The Honor Academy represents years of youth ministry work by Ron Luce. Prior to founding this comprehensive program in 1986, Luce established Teen Mania, which aimed to spread the positive message of Christianity to young people in nations around the world. After returning to the United States, Luce inspired thousands of teenagers with religious events such as BattleCry and Acquire the Fire. The Honor Academy combines the intensity of these events with a highly structured program that truly promotes excellence.
